What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a primary care, client-focused health profession dedicated the prevention or treatment of injury or disease through physical means.  Its goal is to improve quality of life through improved health and fitness, by teaching you techniques for recovery, relieving pain, preventing injury, and improving physical movement.

What does a physiotherapist do?

​

A physiotherapist will begin by performing a complete physical assessment and evaluation. The physiotherapist will develop a treatment plan using a range of treatment techniques focused on improving range of motion, strength, and function as well as to relieve pain. These techniques include:

  • Massage

  • Myofascial Release

  • Joint mobilisation and manipulation

  • Nerve glides

  • Education

  • Exercise

  • Acupuncture
